I know that many women out there feel alone, angry, upset, etc. about their situations regarding custody and other significant issues. This is more specifically for women who have been abused and are still being abused through court proceedings. One link is to help you see that you are not alone and the other link is there to help you do something about it if you wish. I hope this helps. Be encouraged.

If there are people who are actually doing something now, I really need their help. When I read their information, I thought that is exactly what I need. I have been in an abusive marriage for 10 years and now that he finally chose to leave himself, latching on to his next victim, I am being painted as unstable and irrational. Well I am a mother, I have always been a mother first and foremost. The domestic violence center's attorneys, my attorneys, seem to advise me to continue to be controlled as he changes every incident of abuse to make it look like I was out of control and he had no choice but to hit me, for his own safety. They tell me to let him have visitation every weekend to show that I am being "cooperative." I do not have a problem with a father being a father to his children. I have 2 older children from a previous marriage and although we had our issues with each other, we have always agreed to keep the interests of our daughters first and do what is best for them.

Every time I have wanted to leave my current marriage, I have been threatened financially, with threat of long court battle to take the children away, and in many other ways. He has emotionally, physically, and sexually abused me and controlled me and has always made sure that it was in a way he could try to excuse it, make it a he said she said thing. Now he is living up to all of his threats and making my life a nightmare.

I am not crazy or unstable, I am a mother who is being threatened with having her children taken away. Until he decided to move out and in with his new girlfriend and their "better life," I spent a totaly of three weekends away from my youngest children who are 9 and 5. I have been the primary caretaker, and he could never be bothered to compromise any time from his schedule if I did want to pursue any career opportunities. I am, however, quite angry and I feel justifiably so. No actually not angry, depressed, crazy, or unstable. I am what I have been for years, and that is afraid.

I am in Baltimore County Maryland and if there is a group like this here that I have not been able to find, please let me know.
