Hi, everybody. I’m infertile due to a low ovarian reserve and PCOS. My husband and I have been TTC for nearly 4 years. We have already had two IVFs, and after the second one the fertility expert we consulted advised us to try egg donation. We’ve got interested in one Ukrainian clinic. It’s called Biotexcom. We’ve chosen it because we have found loads of favorable feedbacks about this clinic on various fertility and pregnancy forums. In addition, our close friends who were also infertile advised us to contact it, because they had a successful egg donation program there.
We contacted this clinic via email, and two weeks ago we visited Ukraine for the first time.
I’m going to share my feedback with you and ask you to give me a piece of advice in order to understand what to do further. When we came to Ukraine, we were met at the airport by a very courteous translator. Then we were taken to a nice apartment to have some rest.
The following day, a driver took us to the clinic, and this was the end of the things we liked about this clinic. Biotexcom is a tiny clinic located in a small private villa. When we entered the hall we were surprised to see large queues everywhere. There wasn’t even a vacant place to stand. Some people were even sitting on the stairs. We saw loads of couples with newly born children there. Some of them were crying and it made the atmosphere in the clinic unbearable… A cold and unfriendly administrator told us that our manager in charge is busy, so we have to wait our turn. Overall, we waited nearly 2 hours before the manager came into the clinic hall and invited us to see a doctor. The doctor who spoke with us seemed to be a real expert, but she treated us so formally….
We’ve decided not to sign up a contract yet, and went back to France.
P.S. We visited another Ukrainian clinic in Kiev. It was called Isida. The things were different there… Extremely polite and friendly administrator, very understandable and sympathizing doctor and empty clinic hall. There were no queues and noise. The atmosphere is very calm and even frightening.
Now I have one question: both clinics suit us, but we don’t know which one to choose: a noisy or quiet one??? Maybe, there is anybody here who has got an egg donation in Ukraine??? Please share your experience with me.

Oh, gosh… Sounds bad!!! The clinic shouldn’t have made you wait so much time in the queue. I bet reputable clinics don’t treat their clients like this. Why have you chosen them, hun??? For me, it’s better to quit them as soon as possible.
P.S. If you’re still interested in them, you may check their success rates. Just trust your gut and you’ll understand what to do further!

The clinic seems to be a reputable one. We visited quite a lot of fertility forums where we found some discussions about Biotexcom. Most of their former clients praise the fertility specialists who work there. You won’t believe, but they have helped a 66-year-old woman get pregnant. Isn’t it amazing? We also like their prices and a package of services. The only thing I really disliked was the fact that they made us wait in a large queue…

If I were you, I would also check the way they’re going to choose an egg donor. I think it’s vital to do this as loads of things depend on the quality of the oocytes you’re going to use. It will be nice if you donate eggs from a young woman. Then you’ll get more chances to become pregnant. I would also ask the clinic’s doctors to check the donor’s health and heredity. This should be done to make sure that your baby will be a healthy one. What do you think about it, hun?

I quite agree with you, MissMary. The clinic we’re going to deal with offers us to sign up a contract. In this contract we could find the criteria the clinic’s representatives are going to use in finding a donor for us. Firstly, our possible donor will be 18-25 years old. She must be totally healthy. Having one healthy child delivered naturally is a real must. Finally, the clinic’s doctors will investigate the donor’s family tree to see whether her parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles are free from various heredity diseases. This is how the clinic is going to find a donor for us.

Hi, there. I’m also interested in egg donation. I have some problems with my fertility and this is the main reason why I can’t become a mum at last. I won’t give your details on my issue, but my gyny recommends me to try egg donation. JStar, I would like to ask you how they are going to find an egg donor for you. Will they give you a short description of the woman who would become your egg donor? Or, maybe, you’ll be able to see the donor’s photo?

Hi, green-eyed. Nice to meet you, dear. When we were going to visit Kiev for the first time, we sent the clinic’s representatives a short description of the woman who would suit us as an egg donor. We included such details as the height, weight, the eye and hair color of the woman whom we want to become our egg donor. Our program coordinator told us that they would use a special software to find a suitable donor for us in their database. If we sign up a contract with them, we’ll be able to see the donor’s 3D photo. This is how they’re going to find an egg donor for us.

Sounds not bad, dear! It’s really great that you’ll be able to see the donor’s 3D photo. However, will the clinic charge any fee for this opportunity. As far as I know, some fertility clinics do this. They may ask you do loads of additional tests. Some of them may be quite unnecessary. What about Biotexcom? Do they do the same?

No, they don’t charge any additional fees. When we visited the clinic for the first time, they offered us to sign up a contract with them. According to this contract, we have to pay a fixed sum. As we’re going to book several shots, our payment will be divided into several installments. We may make the payments either in cash or via a bank transfer. They also require to do all the tests in time. Otherwise, you may be fined or your program may be terminated.

I quite like the fact that they’re going to charge a fixed sum for their services. It’ really very handy as you can plan your expenses. However, aren’t you afraid to go there? The country is at war now. I don’t think it’s safe to visit this country. In addition, you will have to hire an interpreter as not all Ukrainians are perfect English-speakers. Once you’ve decided to visit this country, be very cautious there, hun.

Green-eyed, thanks for your caution. We’ve chosen Ukraine as our final destination because this country has a well-developed reproductive health service. The reproductive clinics there have rather high success rates. We visited Biotexcom. This clinic is situated in Kiev, the capital city of Ukraine. When we visited it, it seemed to be quite peaceful. I should say that I even liked this city in some way. The clinic provided us with free accommodation situated not far from the city center. Every time when we needed to visit the clinic, they sent a vehicle to give us a lift. I think it was really very handy as we didn’t have to travel around the city looking for the clinic. An interpreter helped us to communicate with the clinic’s staff. They even supplied us with free meals. When we had free time, the clinic’s representatives organized a short tour around Kiev for us. It was really exciting because Kiev is rich in the places of interest. If we didn’t have to visit the clinic, I would have thought that we were on a tourist trip. These are the things I really liked about Biotexcom!

Hi, there! I’ve decided to join your discussion as I’m also interested in getting feedbacks about Ukrainian fertility clinics. We want to deal with one of them, but we haven’t made our choice yet. Biotexcom seems to be quite ok. Do they require their patients to do any health tests before visiting them for the first? We’ve already got several lists from the fertility clinics in the UK. What about Ukrainian clinics?

I think it’s better for you to visit the official website of this clinic. You may find the entire list of the tests there. They have also put the samples of the contracts they offer their clients to sign up there. As far as I remember, I did several blood and hormone tests. I also did several ultrasound checks. My hubby did a sperm test. You may also email or phone them to get more information about the health tests they require.

Thanks, hun! I’ve visited the official website of Biotexcom the other days. I should say that I quite liked the egg donation packages they offer there. Their prices are really very reasonable. Have you made up your mind what to do further? Will you deal with Biotexcom?
P.S. I’m just curious to know this.
