Irish Baby Names

Irish names typically consist of a first name, middle name and a family name. In Ireland people can have an English name and an Irish name. For Example: Abigail Barbara Lawrence or Abigeál Baibín Labhrás.
When the names don't fit the person--there's always the nickname. A famous Irishman was C. S. Lewis 1898-1963, Author. Clive Staples Lewis, or known as Jack to his friends, was born in Belfast on November 29, 1898.

Gaelic given names are also commonly used, as are the names of saints for those born within an Irish family or with Irish relations. The names can be spelled in the traditional Irish way or Anglicized. For instance Cáitlín as opposed to Catherine.

If you are having a baby born soon and want to bestow a fine Irish name upon her or him here are some Irish Names to think about.
